Wanna make it loud and do it cheap? Drill holes in your mufflers. Want it even louder? Chop off your mufflers, replace em with burnt out cherry bombs; it's a legal muffler. You can get headers, an expensive high flow muffler like Magnaflo or Flowmaster as examples. I had a 90 F-150 I punched out the cats and chopped off the muffler, ran it like that for awhile before converting to true dual pipes, no muffler system at all, dualing out my O2 censor. It ain't legal but it sounded badass.

I've never had any problems with headers, or have heard anything bad of them from friends. As for burnt out cherry bombs, that's simple. Buy used ones or new ones, toss some gas or lighter fluid inside, toss in a match and wait, lol. The idea of a burnting it out is like aging it really quick, and the less material inside, the louder it gets. Otherwise, my only other suggestion since you dont have a muffler, punch out your cats. I just hope you don't have to pass emissions. Or buy those high flow cats, not sure what they run ya though. If those are stock cats they should come out or be replaced anyways.

The cats muffle a lot of sound...but i wouldnt recommend removing them if your truck is EFI, it will throw your computer into a whirl and gas mileage will drop drastically.

the only way his gas mileage will drop after he removes the cats is if he doesn't re-install the oxygen sensor close to it's stock location. My 95 hasn't had cats for 3 years, and it gets better gas mileage with the headers and oxygen sensor reading off of one bank of the engine then it did stock as long as I keep my foot out of the loud pedal!!

Buy new cherry bombs. Within a year, they will be burned out.

My truck has headers that dont leak, and working dual cats and cherry bombs with tips that come out under the back bumper. It sounds evil.

Dont buy a Cheky.

Here in North Carolina, they inspect your exhaust system for that dreaded yearly sticker renewal. My truck passes every year.
