My vote is about the same result. The bottleneck in your exhaust is the factory y-pipe and converters. Replacing them will net you more power throughout the RPM range.

I agree...the muffler design doesn't have much effect on the system as a whole. Plus, it depends on the actual flow and exhaust gas velocity. A good turbo style muffler can flow better than a cheap glass-pack with a louvered core.

Not to thread hi jack just a quik question. The pass side of the y pipe is smaller then the drivers side pipe. My question is, are the manifold where there the pipe bolts to the same size on both sides or are they different? Thanks

either get a bassani Y pipe or have a reputable exhaust shop build you a proper mandrel bent Y pipe. Run a hi flow cat and what ever muffler you like. If you can run long tube headers this will help improve torque on the 302, shorties work as well just not as much. either way the exhaust should be the first upgrade. Just dont expect miracles, the 302 is not a torque motor period.

I believe the driver's side is either double wall or has a shield around it since it passes directly under the engine.

i like straight pipe, it lets the engine breathe with a little back pressure

ten four..just curious cuase im planning on building a y pipe with out the resonator or cat which ever that is right where it ys at..my plan was to just use the left side and just make the pass side but then i saw it was two diff sizes so it kinda threw that plan out the window.
