ok i thought i would go ahead and start this thread in here as well since i am planning on picking your brains here soon on..since i havent owned a lifted truck before.. and i want future advice..such as how often i need to check this over, which shocksto run and such..

anyways onto my truck.. i just picked it up last night, so i dont know all of the specifics on it yet..
what i do know. It is an 85 f150 4x4 with a 351 and a c6..sorry i dont know what gear ratio yet i havent had time to crawl under it yet to look at the tags..

here is a link to my introductory thread but i will also post up pics in a minute.

also i havent been behind the wheel much but i do know the 4x4 works but sometin i just noticed this morning is it has 2 different hubs..one is the factory for hub that moves only a couple inches to lock and the other is an aftermarket warn i beleive that requires a full rotation to lock in..

will this cause me problems in the long run when 4x4ing? i plan on getting a hub kit and swap them both out..also what would you recomend? i havent swapped out hubs before but i know i can do it i just want to get a good set.. thanks!!

Id be willing to bet your ratio is 3.54:1. The only other option sould be 4.10.

Hard to tell from the pics but does it have a body lift or suspension lift?

Id change both hubs out to Warn premiums
WARN PREMIUM LOCKING HUBS DANA 44 #20990

its a suspension lift..

i can try and take more pics later..however working 80hrs a week makes it difficult to do anything lol..

oh and a nifty feature the previous owner swapped in new front seat from a newer f150 and actaully hooked up the wiring so i have electric seats that are much more comfy than the original seats from this era

im planning on finding a set of cooper discoverer stt's

ive ran them before on a couple of my rigs and loved them

my main thing is finding a good set of tires that handle offroad snow and ice, and wear decently since this is my new dd

Personally I like the old stock hubs best. Never broke ne like the warn premiums.

i had those same flares on my 85. if you wheel a lot they collect crap behind them like mud, rocks, tree branches, and it eventually starts rotting out the wheelwells. my 85 went from fresh new sheet metal with fresh paint, to rusted wheelwells in a little over a year

p.s. i ran some superwinch premium hubs and liked them, don't know if they still make them or not, all metal, never broke them.

as long as they both turn and engage you'll be fine. the difference in the amount of turn on the dial is slightly different from each manufacturer, but as long as they both engage you're golden.
