not really. there is a cutoff point for the type F trans fluid. i want to say somewhere in the mid 80's ford switched to dextron for the C-6, and if you put type F in a dextron trans it does nasty things.
i use valvoline synthetic in the C-6 in my 88 after the guy that built it told me to use it.
over 150k miles on it now without any problems. i have changed the fluid twice.

Oh and the switch was in teh mid 70s.
But going to type F does firm up the shifts to a certian extent. If you check on things like B&M trick shift, thats all it is. Type F with blue coloring added.
You can even use type of in other brands with the same affect (which is why you can use the b&m fluid in a th350 and get better shifts) big difference is type F has a friction modifier in it.

good morning all i hope you all had a good weekend..mine was good although i spent 4 hours under my truck yesterday trying to get it started lol...i thought my starter was out...actaully i have a few teeth missing on my flywheel so looks like that will be getting replaced somoe time in the nearish future!
