more smoke and less power...
My truck has been steadily declining over the last few months, it's smoking more than it used to and there's not as much power as before. I've also lost fuel mileage. I thought changing back to smaller tires would fix some of the problem but if it helped any at all it been negligable. Every time I shift I get a puff of smoke even when I'm trying to avoid it and when I have my small tool trailer its way worse. I have a Superchip (I know it sucks but money is too tight for a new one) and have tried it on all three settings but all I get is a reduction of power at the lower settings, still smokes. I dont have gauges so I have to go by the sound of the turbo but it still whistles like normal so I think it's at least mostly ok. I tried to move the wheel around but it has no play and the fins look fine with no chips or wear that I see from the outside. I've got a little over 285,000 miles now so a new turbo and injectors would be great but I haven't found any for free yet so that'll have to wait. I used to get very little smoke even with the pedal on the floor in the high setting and had to be careful to avoid the turbo fluttering but now it smokes every time I accelerate and I don't even get enough boost to make the turbo flutter. Any help?

What Bulla said ^^^. Just build yourself a pressure tester (3" pvc cap and Schrader valve). Here is a link...What color is the smoke?

Sorry if this sounds dumb but why do we have to be careful of turbo flutter?
I'm pretty new to the F350 but my GTR R32 Skyline, Eclipse GSX and TT Supra all fluttered (if flutter is the kinda of Cha cha cha sound when coming off the gas quick?)
Are the 7.3 Turbo's weak? my Eclipse I had for two years with up'd power and never had issue, all three fluttered like crazy between gear shifts

The smoke is dark grey/black. I've changed the fuel filter and have an AFE stage 2 cleanable air filter, I'll see about building one of those pressure testers. Thanks guys. Viper when we have turbo flutter/surge it's not from getting off the throttle it's from overboosting because of chips or programmers and the surging can cause damage if it happens too much or for too long. At least that's what I understand it to be.
