Prayers for my yellow Lab, Rusty, and me...
My best pal, Rusty, my nine year old yellow Lab, has been losing weight and not too active. Our Vet ran a battery of basic and advanced tests, and found he has lung cancer. Prognosis is not good; probably only two or three months. Rusty is getting various medicines, which are designed to retard the growth of the cancer. His appetite is a little better, and his activity level is improved slightly. Losing him will be the most difficult event I can think of....he and I are real buddies, and he rides in the truck with me. I'd rather cut my leg off than say goodbye to him. I've never appealed for prayers before, but we sure need them now. Thanks in advance; I've always considered all of you part of the family, and now turn to you for help.....

As the saying goes "All Dogs go to heaven". I think maybe that a dogs life is so short is because they give so much love.
Yes the pain that comes with the end is difficult to bear. You have my prayers not only for Rusty but also for yourself.
When you find the empty space that will be in your heart is ready to be filled with a new companion please go to the shelter and save your next friend.

Easy Boy came to me from such a situation and is a true friend.

Truly sorry for the bad news. I`ll post up something called dogs prayer
remember that they can't do a lot of things for themselves and that they depend on you to make their life a quality life!
A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Sorry to hear about the horrible news about your dog.
A few months ago our 13 year old shepard mutt was extremely sick and we thought sure we'd have to have him put down. We were dreading having to tell the kids who adore this dog. He has made an amazing recovery and looks like he may make it a few more months.
Hope you get some quality time with him while he is still doing fairly well.
