My last brakes pads came from NAPA. They are awesome for stopping but one thing I hate about them is they leave black powder on the wheels. Don't know the brand name. I think they are just NAPA brands pads.
I think the shoes your thinking of are Performance Friction. I started to look for them at one point, but decided to just take it to Ford and let them do it with their own stuff. Maybe searching the forum for performance friction will give you a website where you can find them...
I've tried all kinds of aftermarket brands, and finally learned that using OEM from the dealer produces the best result. Longest life, no black crud on the wheels, and no squeaking. They cost more than aftermarket, but ya don't have to buy em as often
I'd like to get OEM stuff, I'm thinking though that for 1/2 the price I can probably get a brand 3/4 as good - I couldn't get any tighter on $ right now if someone stuck a gun to my head!
Napa might be the way to go for me, the dust is unsightly but I can live with that.
Anybody know roughly the price difference `tween OEM and Perfomance Friction or a say a set of NAPA shoes?
I bought OEM in June 2001 for my 94, and I think they were around $45. Use a buddies business name when ya visit the dealer and that should save ya 15%; I forgot to do this.
I wasn't to impressed with the OEM pads. My 2000 had 53,000 miles on it and it wouldn't stop for #@#$. It was like I had no brakes. I checked the pads and they looked like they were still half there. Fords pads sure do last a long time but they suck at stopping.
After I replaced the pads with NAPA the truck stops on a dime now. I can put up with the black dust on my front wheels for stopping power like that. They cost about $50.00
