With the pickup and trailer I grossed 33K, the old mule handled it fine.

I've had about 6,500 lbs in mine several times. Once was two pallets of retaining wall block. I ask for "about 3 tons" when I go get rock. Most of the time they are really good on their guessing, but a few times it has come in around 6,500.

The most I've had combined with a trailer is around 24K while hauling a tractor.

BTW, the axle ratings from Visteon are 7,400 lbs for the SRW axle and 8,250 for the DRW axle in our trucks.

If you're adding air bags or more springs and use better tires, you're going to be running out of capacity when you hit the axle rating.

Several years ago I had a little over 6000 lbs. of gravel loaded in my bed of a '67 f250, it had some extra springs and handled the weight well.I was concerned about the tires and the wheels though. When I got weighed and paid for the gravel the guy informed me the fine for being over my gross weight was like 10 cents a pound, so I was 4000 over, 4000 dimes got my attention I took the back roads home and had no problems.

You're right Jason, it is ugly for sure! But, it cost about 1/7th of a new one too and does work just fine.

Yes, I do have a cdl, and it is legally needed to pull that thing.
