82F100, the HD trucks were presumably down rated for enduring higher work loads and may have had different tuning for that, not for emissions reasons. That's they only reason that makes sense to me.

Thanks, DOHC...

Of other note, the base price of an 85 F250 SuperCab 4x4 would be approximately $28k in today's dollars.

In it you'll find the available factory exterior color paint chips, option lists, engine info, option coding, what was available for the different trucks F150/F250/F250HD/Explorer package, pricing info, special order equipment, axle ratio codes, and more. There's some very good info in here and I turn to it for research frequently. If there's enough interest, I'll try getting some of my other literature up (none as useful as this file). Hopefully the site I'm hosting the file at works out. If anyone has any trouble downloading it, contact me and I can email you a copy when I get a chance. Enjoy!

I'm struck by the HIGHWAY fuel mileage for the 4.9 six with the 4 spd overdrive....24 mpg. My '83 with the same setup I believe was published at 22. I would get 21-22 with a 3.08 axle and carrying more weight due to being a SuperCab..... turning only 1600 rpm at 60 mph. Pretty cool!

'85 truck 302 vs 351W

For instance, on Page 10 it says that the 302 EFI made 190 HP @ 3800 while the 351 HO makes only 210 @ an even higher 4000. Further, the 302 gave 285 lbs-ft of torque @ 2400 while the HO gave 302 @ 2800.

So, while some dis the 302 as being a horse power engine, and then only at high revs, it actually gave peak torque at less RPM than the 351. In fact, it gives only 7% less torque and 10% less horse power than the 16% larger engine.

Anyway, THANKS!
That must be a late '85 document. Spring '85 Ford introduced the 302 multiport EFI engine w/ 190HP in the F series. I think the earlier carbed version was approx 150-160. All '85 351Ws were carbed (4V Holley); referred to as the 351HO. I have an air cleaner off one; decaled "351HO". It was considerably more powerful than the carbed 302.
