Truck Shopping in WA ('73-'77)
#16
I got your message a bit too late! You were right - it was a '77 1/2. That paint job was bad for sure.
Does anyone have any recommendations for mechanics in the Everett area (or north)? Once I find one I'd like to know of someone I could take it to with specific knowledge on these trucks in case I get in over my head.

Highwayman,
I may have a deal for you. I have a 74 F250 4x4. I purchased a 2006 f350 diesel and don't drive the old one any more. Here is the deal. I lived in North Dakota for a while so there is some rust in the bed, but I have another bed to go with it. The engine losses oil pressure when it gets warm (yes it has a new oil pump) but I have a second engine for it also (second engine simply needs lower bearings replace). I can send pictures if you provide an email address. I have owned the truck for over 20 years. It has a tight transfer case and with a little elbow grease and wrench turning would make a great truck. Truck also has a canopy. I am asking $2500 (obo) due to the extra parts. I live in Cle Elum. As other people have already said these trucks are real easy to work on. I have replaced the passenger door and the drivers side front quarter panel so the colors don't match but that can be fixed by a paint job and as has been mentioned before unless you are restoring to original the paint color will only matter to you.

I'm getting a kick reading all these posts. Can't find this, can't find that.
'She who must be obeyed' and I recently spent 17 days drivin' around WA. I stopped counting Dentsides when I reached 131. Also counted over 50 Bumpsides, coupla dozen Slicks.
Suggest you look on the east side of the Cascades...where I spotted most of these.
If you waltz over to Twisp, there's a whole slew of old trucks parked in a field, south side of town, including an early 1950's Dodge wrecker, coupla 'fridge' F600's and a C600.
Up the road apiece, there's a 1956 Ford COE wrecker, and just north of that, a 1930 Model AA flatbed mounted atop a sign.
How they got that thing (still has its powertrain) up there, 20' off the ground, I dunno.
When was the last time y'all saw an AC Mack Bulldog? There's one resting in a shed in Brewster, another in the Cascades Museum.
Spotted dozens of ancient tractors, but I know less about tractors than a mule knows about tap dancing.
There's a 1965 Mercury M100 Styleside parked in a driveway at the south end of Cattle Point Rd., on San Juan Island.
'She' does most a the driving, while I look at the scenery...the old rolling piles of misery scenery...that is.
