You will need new turbo, up pipes, babys butt, pedestal, spider, boots, intake that bolts to heads, HPOP, intake boot from air cleaner to turbo and really injectors, about all I can think of. Cost (turbo = $650) (up pipes = $?) (injectors = $1050) (HPOP = $450) (Boots = $150) and you get the picture.

Welcome to FTE

x 2 what richard showed you.i to have a early 99 and have been debating upgrade or not and now clay has me all messed up with his new kit i really want it !! injectors i would hold off and get everything else done plus exhaust and gauges , than go to single shots and a tuner thats what i want but tough to swallow this all this at once!

lee what did you change ? so you feel a big differance? i am debating this now as my turbo has 267000 mi my up pipes are seeping . man the up pipe kit for the early one is 7 bills and all the exhausts are for the later model.almost a no brainier with clays new kit with the 38r just tight now on money,

well first off when you go with the upgrade u get a differint pedestal and torbo and with it setsup about a inch higer so you dont need a early uppipes. i think just going with a stock 2001 turbo, rebilt realy was the differance. i did fined all the parts off e-bay except uppips that i got at a ford dealer. i would have gon with clays kit but then agen money is the main thing with me

thanks lee i did the 6637 already but on the fence about keeping the old and maintaining or switching to the later set up seems like the new kit hes got has sorta made the decision harder because its probably cheaper and better to go ahead and switch . just after i decided to stay stock and maintain now seems like a bad choice. have you seen his new kit just appeared last week a 38r turbo/ a blank late model pedestal / intakes on head / inserts / afe spiders / bellowed up pipes / boots / high flow turbo output / and all clamps and hardware . pretty sweet complete kit add injectors and a tuner and hold on !

yea i wasnt trying to race either ive managed to stay stock and not touch it for 13 years and 267000 miles now, but now after reading here for 6 months ive been bitten buy the mod bug . i thought my truck was pretty powerful but now i know better . not trying to drag race it but while doing simple maintenance stuff there is better ways . i didn't know how different the early 99 was till i came here.still debating on switching over to the newer setup.
