Another 2WD levelling/lift kit ques.

Just picked up my X today. 6.8L, limited, 2WD. I'm more excited about it than the old airstream trailer I bought to go with it. Anyway I would like to lift it 2 inches and give it a 4WD stance. I've found 6 inch kits, but I'm just looking for some extention coils and blocks for the back. Thx for any info/links.

I just finished a 2 inch spacer in front and add a leaf in rear. If you lift front on 2wd you will need 3.0 degree camber kits and a little work with the die grinder on the steering knuckle. Very close fit to get wheels straight but doable.

Starrs, Thanks for the info. I was waiting for someone to post about those spacers. Can you show a pic? Cheers

A quick search would have given you what ya wanted!

Here's my thread on the spacers. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8492932

Pay attention to post number 21. I have links to two threads in that post that are important if you plan on using spacers on your rig.

Also, there are plenty of pictures for you between all three threads.

Thanks for the above link. I went for the billet spacers for the front along with all new bushings, ball joints and tie rods. I'm in the process of installing everything now......this forum is a great source of info.

I think my rear springs have sagged and I may need to add a taller block above the rear axle to get things level when I finish the front. I see folks using F350 blocks to raise their 4x4's (ford part no. F81Z5598da). Does anyone know if these blocks will work on a 4x2? If not, any info on compatible blocks? I'm looking for just a 2 inch increase in lift. Thx!

Yes, they'll work for the 4x2 rigs. The rear springs are interchangeable too.

Since your springs are sagging, I'd suggest new springs before new blocks.

Stewart, - good point about the rear leafs. The back looks level with the front without the front spacers installed, so I assumed some sagging took place. Should I consider new coils as well? 130,000 miles and no history of heavy towing. Thanks.

Unless your suspension is worn or not performing up to your specs, and replacing the coils and leafs will make it better, then it's just money down the drain.

For me, I plan on replacing the rear leafs on my F250 mainly because I just want a set of fresh springs back there. I figure the previous owner must have towed a lot with a gooseneck, because whenever I hook up my dump trailer, the rear end sags more than I like, and whenever I hook up our travel-trailer, it really makes the rear-end squat.

Plus, I like to drag race my truck in Division 2, NHRDA and a better suspension will help with my launches.

So will a set of traction bars, slicks, a new rear diff, blah, blah, blah...the list goes on for this money pit!
