my exhaust fell off today from cat back. Flowmaster super 44 install COMPLETE

ok well driving down the road it all or a sudden sounded meaner then normal.... atually i was playing with a dakota and stepped on it and it sounded alot more agressive al of a sudden then the ting ting and metal on metal sound started as my muffler was rubbing the drive shaft....

well i wanted to do something with the exhaust and i guess this is the time to do it.
i dont have an emissions laws here or annual inspections so im not worried about that part.

i was thinkling of just adding a 2' piece of pipe (just to bring it past the cab) and a turn down. then i got thinking can i remove the rear cat without causing any issues? if so im just going to cut it off and make the pipe a little longer with the same turndown under the box.

without a muffler and tilpipe i like the sound but would like a little louder. by removing the rear cat i can acomplish that right? will there be any issues with the o2 sensors? i beloeve the sensor is before the rear cat am i correct?

any suggestions?
thanks, midnite

No problems with your plan, this vintage truck has only one O2 sensor in front of the first cat.

I don't like turn-downs on exhaust. Just my. 02 why not just add your straight pipe in place of the cat and that glass pack and run the rest of the tail pipe?

on my previous 92 f150 i removed the cat put in a cherrybomb in its place and ran just pipe to a side exit in front of the pass wheel... it was no louder then full tailpipe on this truck. i was thinking about running it out the passenger side again with no cat or ,muffler but ill go under the box for now till i decide. then at least its not under my cab

EDIT: i re read what you wrote EDGETHIS, i think im going to run thestraighty pipe to under the box for now and might go sde infront of the wheel or put the tailpipe on afterwards

Why use little 2 inch pipe? I would use at the minimum at least 2.25 or 2.5. I would suggest running 3 inch single on your 351. The size of the exhaust pipe between the 2 cats is an odd size and 3 inch pipe fits right over it. I agree about not liking turn downs though. I would run tail pipes out the back or something. Magnaflow makes a nice single 3 inch tail pipe for our trucks. I think Dynomax or someone similar also makes one. Several people on this site have used them.

the original post said adding a 2' (2 foot long) piece of pipe. my tailpipe that came off was either 2.75 or 3"

I had turndowns before, but you need the right muffler to sound good, i had a super turbo dumped before the axel it was freakin deep sounding but rattled the hole inside of the cab, also had a Cherry Bomb extreme dumped not as bad and sounded great outside.

finally finished the exhaust.
love the sound from outside and parked. but thought it would be louder when driving but as it exits out the passenger side the sound doesnt travel to the driver seat that well. no drone on the highway either.

painted it all black with headder paint.

Sounds nice. The 44s will get louder as they wear in. I had full headers with a 44 on each one and then dumped to each side on my old 78, it sounded amazing.
