Hi guys,

Ive read on here that people have replaced sending units. I need one for the spare tank in my 77 F250 4x4. its a plastic tank and the only one the truck has at this point. ive tried lordco but the one they brought in says its for a spare tank but the pickup hose angle is wrong. the tank sits between the frame rails.

Any sugestions would be appretiated. thx!

1977 F250 4WD: There are two different fuel tank sending units used with the mid-ship plastic fuel tank.

Is this '77 F250 4WD a High Boy (divorced transfer case), or a Low Boy (married transfer case)?

Is this a Regular Cab pickup, a Cab and Chassis, or a Crew Cab pickup?

If the fuel gauge is reading in-correctly, be aware that the sending unit's float is available by itself.

The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.

Hey thanks for your reply. it is not a highboy, it is a single cab, i know its not the float i had the unit out and it looks like someone had gutted it so i definateley need a new sender. I tried ford but they said their parts list didnt got back past 84 or some such thing. should i maybee try ordering a sender for a 78 or 79 f250?

 

also when i had it out the foat wasnt made of copper it was a whiteish plastic. the tank fits up in there properly so im sure its for this frame is it posible its out of a bronco or something else maybee?
