Thanks for the complement about mine. And I agree, all old trucks are cool... My favorites are 48-50!

I used the kit from Clasic Performance Parts on my 52 F1. It is the same as some of the others out there. The bracket is for a 53 and newer but it fit the F1 with very minimal alterations. I just opened up the pitman shaft hole which you do on the 53 and up anyway, used the lower hole in the stock location, elongated the front upper mounting hole and drilled a new hole for the upper rear.

I intent to get some pics up soon but don't have any right now. The swap was pretty easy but I am also working on a bare frame so gaining access was not an issue for me.

I am very happy with the quality of the CPP bracket and pitman arm and would recomend it if someone asked.

Good luck with your upgrade,

Rich

What did you do with the pump? I have a flatty and I've only seen one kit for a flatty pump for $450.

Sorry I should have mentioned it's a 302/C6 combo so i just used a standard Ford P/S pump with aftermarket brackets and pulley.

Haven't gotten to the hoses yet so I'll be following along to see how you do

Has anyone tried to put the Toyota steering box on 1948 F-5 truck?

Here are a couple pics of the F1 install using the F100 bracket.

The bolt circled in green being original. The one circled in yellow drilled slightly forward of the original. The one in red is all new drilled for bracket.

Here you can see the gear mounted in it's final location. Just enough clearance between the gear and the block hugger headers.

Hope that helps out some of you looking to do this on your F1 without fabricating your own bracket.

Thanks Rich,

What is the yellow bolt screwed into? Do you have any pics of the Box and Mounting plate prior to mounting it to the frame? I have to buy one since I don't have the use of a shop to make one myself.

The bracket is side drilled and threaded. All three bolts thread into the side of the bracket through the frame. The Gear needs to be mounted to the bracket prior to the frame.

Sorry, no pics of bracket before but CPP has one on their website.

Another alternative is to make your own. I have a fairly detailed section in my gallery regarding this. It worked out pretty well.

Cheers.
