Michelin is the best tire on the road. They are the exclusive supplier for our heavy trucks and we see no problems with their product. Granted, some of their passenger tires do not last long, but they are designed that way to give you the grip and performance you expect. I would not put another brand on a heavy truck, nor a passenger vehicle that my family rides in.

You can have a great truck with all the gizmos going, but if those 4 little black patches touching the concrete can't do their job, the rest is useless.

I got 59,000 on mine and will get a couple of thousand more before replacement. They do know how to charge at $325 each.

I can't wait for my Michelins to wear out so I can put a set of Nitto Grappler tires on my F250. Sounds like I won't have to wait too long.

Well guys I got the replacement set put on today at a local dealer. The owner told me I was very lucky that Michelin allowed that much on the tires. He said you would be lucky to get 35,000 miles out of a set.My cost for the set was $580.00,I would be calling Michelin if you are having wear troubles. So I will run them another 35,000 or hopefully more.

Glad it worked out for you! I seriously don't think I will see much more than 30,000 miles out of mine. The Goodyear Wrangler AT/S that I ran 2 sets of on my 2006 would at least go 50,000 with plenty of power braking abuse. I love Michelin for everything else but they just don't cut it on these heavy trucks.

I have the generals on my truck and they suck, at 13k they are less than half tread. took them to discount tire and they said normally that OEM tires don't come with a warranty, they also said if they did I would have to go back with generals.

Chevynomore. You called Michelin and they offered that kind of a credit? I don't mind the michelins as far as how they have performed. But they just aren't lasting. If I can get half off a new set. I'd run another set.

Did you call and work out the deal? or did the tire dealer?

I called first just to see what the process was to get them checked out. The rep. stated they would do whatever was fair for me,if they were any excessive wear on the tires. He took my # & name told me to tell the dealer to call them back with details of the wear.We had to fillout a claim form with serial # off the tires and the vin # on the truck The rep. told the dealer what they would pay on the replacement set. I never called them back to confirm that, due to the fact I trust the dealer.

Is this another Conti issue in the making? Why would a tire manufacturer give that much credit for 28,000 miles of tire wear unless there is some underlying quality issue?

My brother had all 4 of his Conti's replaced for free at 25,000 on his 2008 due to a quality issue with the manufacturing process.

I've been reading all these posts about the Michelin ATX2/20s so I finally went out to take look at mine, I have lmost 21,000 on mine , most of my trips are stop & go 40-to 75 mile trips, I'm seeing even wear & looks like at least 70 % tread left, I don't know if I'm just lucky, or if this about the time the wear really starts to show, I'll keep checking this thread to keep updated!!

You guys sticking up for these AT/2's and you guys who have 21k or so and they still look good will see down the line what I mean.
These are suposed to be AT tires and in short order around 23k or so they looked bald. To explain clearer Only the inner 2 rows still looked good with lot's of tread depth. Both inside and outside on the 2 middle rows were smooth. If you own AT/2's you'll know the areas I'm talking about.
All 4 of the tires were like this and the Sears tire manager confirmed no bad alignment or abuse were on these. I don't beat my truck been there done that 45 years ago. I'm 62 and want the most out of $1200 tires and a 55k truck.
The manager showed me the snipeing design wasn't down to the level of the inner rows thus the "bald" look once some mileage was put on. The tire probably will go 50k or so but not with the traction a tire should give. A rainy day would be dangous as well.
If your happy with a AT tire that doesn't grip in snow/sand,etc. that's fine. These LTX/2's I exchanged have 5 rows and all still out there providing traction after 30k now.
I'm just trying to show you guys what the tire will do in time. Don't forget these were on my 08 6.4.

I've never had good luck with Michelins on any kind of vehicle, so I won't buy 'em for anything anymore. I've had better luck with B.F. Goodrich, and we run them on almost all of our work trucks, but BFG has been owned by Michelin for over twenty years, so go figure.
Did Michelin change compounds that much between tire styles? The X radials under my truck have 45k on them...and have about 25k left on them. I realize about the only thing my truck's Michelins have with y'alls is the tire man molded on the side. But I still wonder why your wearing them out so fast? I've got a 3.73LS rear-end and I pull heavy usually about once a month. This '04 came with Perirri's...and I got 52k out of them; rotating every 5k and keeping the tires at 55 psi (80 on the rear when towing). I'm still rotating every 5k (I do it when I change the oil)....and still running the same psi in the tires. Maybe the 4WD front end is hell on tires?

I have 53,000 miles on my original michelins. Probably have another 5-8,000 left in them. They have been good for me.
