I don't know how many of you know, or why you'd need to, but I was interested to learn that international has updated it's version of the 6.4 to a single EGR cooler instead of the dual cooler.

I couldn't find a picture, but I'm just wondering if there is really any advantages as opposed to the original 2 part EGR cooler.

I have to imagine anyone with a shot cooler would most likely delete it all together, but if you can't- maybe this is an option.

 

Are you just refering to the EGR cooler on the Maxxforce 7?

The maxforce motor is the same as ours but I don't know if the mounting of the coolers would adapt.

Interesting thought. I bet the reasoning behind the two coolers for us was to get the temps down since we are generally running higher HP.

 

the maxforce had 2 as well, switched to 1 in 2010 along with a power boost.

 

interesting...there is a international truck dealer just down the road. I may swing in there and have a talk with them.

 

That would be awesome, this may prove to be a valuable piece of information to someone yet.

The 2010+ 6.4 Maxxforce uses a LOT more EGR than our trucks, so it stands to reason that the cooler would be much better built.

 

Well they have a full service shop so maybe I can speak directly with a tech. They take care of it all there.

 

If you end up going there, ask them if the CGI block has the same external dimensions.

I started a thread the other day, entertaining the thought of doing a CGI swap for a 1000 HP monster 6.4.

 

I didn't get by there tonight. Had to rescue a kid from the college dorms for a day, but will try tomorrow.
