97 Expedition Blend Door Fix

Bought this 97 Expedition from a dealer friend. Had a fix via the glove box for the blend door issue.

Inside the glove box is a cut hole that you're supposed to reach in and transfer the door to make it all hot or all cold. It works. I saw him do it in the winter to give me full heat.

Only issue is I try to change it now for cold and I can't quite understand the concept of getting the door to stay where it needs to stay, or if I am even messing with the right "door".

It's a very small hole in the back of the glove box and a foam lined "door" that seems to be laying against the heater core.

Any suggestions? I watched the heatertreater vids, doesn't seem to be my fix...

Since it's a non-factory modification, we're in the dark just as much as you are. Any chance of you posting photos of it on a place like Photobucket: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and linking to the pictures back here?

Ok, here are some pics... These are from behind the glove box door. you'll see there is a small cut-out that bends back and gives access to what I think is the blend door. I have a few pics of the foam lined door opened and closed... hope you can make sense of it.

It seemed to be a pretty easy fix. I know it works because I had cold in the winter and switched back to hot. now trying to get back to cold The guy had a slight issue getting it back to hot when he did it. But I know he didn't use any apparatus or nomenclature to hold it in place. Not sure where to go from here... any help would be greatly appreciated

NOTE: I just realized that these pics are rotated 180 degrees on the side so you'll have to look at them as the left side being on top. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Nice abortion they gave you to have to deal with.

The pics are a bit fuzzy, but it looks to me like you just have to pull the door over. The issue for you is what did they install to hold over it in place? I couldn't see anything in the pics that would do that.
