What year is this truck? Could you post a pic of this plate?

Compare the VIN on the title/registration to the VIN on this Warranty Plate to see if they match.
Advertised as a 1968 ,671 Detroit deisel,10 spd.
I probably messed up the Vin, the pic looks better on my phone.

This Warranty Plate pic is way too small to read. My screen is 27" and I keep a magnifying glass handy, still cannot make it out.

Maybe your 44 year old eyes can read it, my 73 year old eyes cannot.

N80CU971518 VIN taken from post # 777:

Above pic: This is a 1963/69 N series. The VIN cannot be correct, as the series code (first 3 digits of the VIN): N80 wasn't used until 1970. It should be: R00 = N1000 Diesel

The 4th digit of the VIN: C = 1963/64 292 2V Y block or 1966/69 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine. There are 5 different Detroit diesel VIN engine codes, but none are a C.

The 5th digit of the VIN - U is the assembly plant code for Louisville KY, it's probably correct.

The last 6 digits of the VIN is the numerical sequence of assembly. 1963/66 are all numbers, 1967/69 begins with a letter followed by 5 numbers.

1963/66: No number begins with a 9.

Would you be able to find the part number for the wiring harness that catches the head lamps and marker lights on the drivers side? Longshot I know, but would like the nos if available. Fire damaged existing. Thanks again for your assistance.
1969 F700:

What parts house are you using? Eaton two speeds have been around for decades. This parts cluck is clueless, try NAPA or an indie auto parts store.

I'm looking for this harness, will post the info into this post.

Lousy parts catalog picture: See 14290 (click on pic twice to enlarge it, use cursor to move it around).

14290 routes along the left fender apron, then across the front to both headlamps with leads to the marker lamps.

Car quest. But tried oriely also. No listing for big trucks.. two harnesses under hood. Left catches left headlamp, marker, and two tails go under the truck. Another tail goes to a distorted block on left fender apron. Harness on the right catches right lights, solenoid, altenator and horn. Engineering number on right is c8tb14398ra. Number on left melted. Engine harness comes through center of truck.

Carquest, Advanced, Oreillys can barely look up parts for a F-350, you need to find a truck parts store and they'll tell you to bring in the old one or the shaft to match one up.

The numb nuts that work at chain auto parts stores wouldn't be able to find a distributor cap for your engine, even though EVERY FoMoCo V8 from 1957 thru 1976 used the same damn one!

I couldn't find this C8TB-14398-RA ID engineering number in the truck parts catalog or the Master Cross Reference Catalog.

The IDIOTS at FoMoCo, when they replaced part numbers, removed the original ID engineering numbers from the catalog.

The part number I came up with: D0TZ-14398-E (replaced C8TZ-14398-AR) .. Dash Panel to Engine Wiring Harness / Obsolete ~ 1968/72 F500/750 I-6 & V8.

Look at the parts catalog pic: An arrow points to 14398 to the left of the right windshield post, has a black dot next to it.

This different harness routes along the left fender, then across the radiator support to the headlamps: C9TZ-14290-D .. Dash Panel to Headlamp Junction Wiring Harness / Obsolete ~ 1969/72 F500/750 I-6 & V8 (gas).

F60 = F600.

B = 262 1V I-6.

K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.

182589 = Assembled June 1961 .. 1961 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.

156" Wheelbase.

J = Rangoon Red.

F602 = F600, 19,500 lbs. GVWR

FC = No such TRANS code, it's probably just plain 'ol F = Borg-Warner T-98 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

F = No such AXLE code, it's not CF either. It could be an F followed by a number (if F1 or F2 = Eaton two speed rear axle).

19,500 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

132 net HP @ 3,600 RPM

0623 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

There's a VIN marked on the housing, but no part number, because...Ford did not put part numbers on parts after 1956.

I'll have to look it up, be back later with the info.

Ok after searching through about 30 threads I found one that has the same engine code as mine "E"
so I think that it's a 361 ?
