Brakes/V10 to Hydro Boost
#46
Fluid is fine. Whine is annoying. I've put over 1,000 miles on it and the whine is relentless. Especially in town or following somebody. I can hear the torque converter lock and unlock letting off the gas and getting back on gently.

I think it is a consequence of the conversion. I don't think anything in particular is wrong. The hydroboost booster is bolted to the firewall right in front of the steering wheel. I think it is probably just noise that they all make, but the diesel is so loud you can't hear it. If I ever replace the power steering pump, I'll let you know if that fixes it. I'd buy one today if it would cure the "supercharger" syndrome...

Thanks for the update.
Please keep us informed, when something changed.
I was sooooo close to buy all the needed parts. So youre my money saver.
I still think that this conversion is a good idea, but if this issue of you will
happen to every V10 Hydroboost Con. it wont be worth.
We really need a solution for a bigger, better, stronger Servopump.
If we run big tires, have a Hydroboost and maybe feed a hydraulic winch that will let this little piece of crap explode like a grenade.

I know this video sucks and my brother called me on the phone, but its all I had time to do. Just turn your speakers up. Photobucket is being a jerk. I hope it works.

On a side note, it has been over 20,000 miles since I did the conversion. I have since had to make several emergency stops. It will slide the tires, which is something it would NEVER have been able to do before. Before the conversion, I could stand on the pedal with all my might, and it would not even cause the anti locks to come on.... (which are disabled on mine now)
The benefits of the conversion really show when the truck has a heavy payload or pulling a heavy gooseneck trailer. (anything that puts a lot of weight on the front tires)
The stock vacuum brake booster was borderline adequate for an unloaded truck, (it would almost slide the tires) but when there's a lot of extra weight mashing on the front tires, the truck really benefits from the extra braking power of the hydroboost booster. And that's the biggest benefit of the conversion.
Also the power steering "supercharger" whine is still incredibly annoying.

Sorry for such a late reply. I very rarely get on the forum. I believe it will work, but I'm not positive. I don't know what year models are the same.

I am curious why you had to change the pedal assembly. I have adjustable pedals in my 05 X and didn't think I had to change them to add hydroboost.
I've had too many close calls with deer running out in front of me and got in an accident Friday because this thing won't stop. My SD diesel truck stops like a race car. Exact same rotors, pads and calipers.
Also, I had the same whine noise in my F350 after a pump replacement. Bleed by turning the wheels all they way left, hold for a few seconds then do it again right. After doing this a few times it went away. I then flushed the PS with Schaeffer's All Tran fluid and it got even quieter and smoother. You got air in it when you installed the hydroboost.
