tranny help

does the input shaft of a 3 speed toploader remove from front housing or from inside of housing? Ive already dropped cluster gear but this baby wont come out the front. Cant find any info on 3 speeds.

It does come out the front, after dropping the cluster. It's just like a toploader 4spd, just missing a gear.

I've got a motors manual on 70's stuff, just need to find it.

what i did discover, is that some 3 speeds do and some dont. all three speeds with the rat id have to come out from the inside. As yo know this means pulling off that big bearing in the back. I had already dropped cluster when i discovered this, and since i have no way to pull that bearing im just going to button her back up for now and look for another one to replace it.Thanks for your time anyway.
