Did these trucks come from the factory with a fan shroud?

Did these trucks come from the factory with a fan shroud?
My '88 F150/4.9L only has that crappy plastic shroud over the fan (bolted on the radiator)

Were they supposed to have a metal shroud around the fan?

Plastic is what it came with, the metal ones went the way of the dodo back in the 50's or maybe early 60's..

Gotcha, thanks for the reply!

I worked part time at an airport for a while and we had a 1968 Clark aircraft tug with the Ford 300 and it had a metal fan shroud.

Yep, and that was Clark's doing too, ya know, Industrial!!
