Depending on if your manifolds are cracked or if your headpipes are trashed. I'd consider cutting the pipes off in front of cat and use a prelate ypipe with o2 bung in it. Then go 3" into a magnaflow muffler and out in the desired direction. For a plow truck I'd dump it under the truck. Tailpipes and side exits get wrecked on my plow trucks up in Maine yearly.
LOL on the tail pipes..

I was going to turn it out in front of the wheel. I keep the sides of my service body out of the snow banks the 9' blade helps.. 7.5- to 8' you tend to drag sides in corners every now and then even trying not to. If it were any rear exit your on the money... bent and tore up for-sure!

shouldn't if your cab has good insulation and/or sound deadening material(s) in it...

Anyone tried this shorty header ?

Bassani 581502- is in the mix. Now, if I could just get my head around the muffler.

Whats all the hate about on the flowmaster stuff ?

I was thinking get a cat back 3" system for convenience then weld up some extra 3" pipe due to the fact some jerk stole my cat and stock y-pipe last night - the nerve huh!
You should be fine with the Summit headers. From what I have read on here most guys say they are Pacesetter and they don't have many problems with them. I think they will be fine.

Flowmaster sounds like a hollow tin can and the interior noise is terrible. The quieter Flowmasters look like a maze inside and I don't see anyway they can flow well.

Also if he runs the exhaust to the rear end, THEN turns it down...It'll pull the drone, etc into the bed area, instead of being right in the cab....

I'm not sure what your saying here. Most of the time the exhaust drone is worse in the bed area than the cab, unless the muffler is under the cab. Having it dumped under the bed creates more interior noise than haveing a tail pipe exiting out from under the truck. The best tail pipe location I have found for reducing interior noise with a performance muffler is running the pipes out the rear under the bumper.

I was meaning to run the exhaust to the rear end, before or after...his choice, then dump the exhaust....Mine has a hole in the cat, where the Air Injection metal hose was...It rusted out...and now shoots exhaust drone, and fumes right into my cab....UGH.....Gettin it fixed ASAP...

After long debate with my self I pulled the trigger on this Y-pipe and cat. I was going to go cat-less but they are there for a reason after all and today's cats are not as robbing as they once were. I got this set up for 198.99 Shipped Its stainless and the bends and welds look clean and flowing. Thanks for the suggestion White Max

My friend has almost the same Magnaflow Y pipe on his 96 which is OBDII and for some reason Magnaflow made it slightly different. His has been working fine for about 3 years or so.

Exactly. Most catalytic converters today really don't rob any significant power. Heck, I'm pushing almost 600 hp through a pair of Magnaflow 3" cats on my fun car. If I thought they were consuming any significant amount of power, I'd have them off the car today.

Well it showed up today. 1 7/8ths down tubes to a cat 2 1/2 out of the cat to cat # two and sadly they reduced the out of that cat to 2 1/4 thats going to be sitting on the floor not in the truck just like in your pics on page 1, White max. I think this will give me good back pressure for a free flowing 3 inch out the rest of the truck.

2nd Cat is for sale .....

The ebay listing said all motors... yea `NO~ 5.0 only... Now I have to pay return shipping for nothing. Anyone wants it for 199 shipped LMK in the next 24 hours before I get my RMA to send it back.

I've had the summit truck headers on one of my older trucks, they're good, but do not "bolt in" to the stock Y pipe, but they were good headers.
