Removing rear rotors on E350?
Hi,
I would like any advice on removing the rear rotors on a '99 E-350 Econoline.
It appears that I have to remove the caliper bracket, but when I tried to remove the bolts,
they wouldn't budge. I snapped an adapter using my air gun, trying to remove the bolts.
Could they be reverse thread?
Also I see that there are retaining clips holding
the rotor on - is there any trick to getting these off?
Thanks for any help.

Well, I figured that I might answer my own question in time, so hear is the story, in case anyone has the same situation.
Hear is how to remove the rear disc rotors on a '99 E350 Econoline.
Remove the (2) caliper bolts, and remove the caliper.
The caliper mounts to the anchor plate with
(2) 18mm bolts.
The 18 mm bolts in the anchor plate are really hard to get loosened, due to the locktite that is
on them. At full torque (425) it took about a minute or so
to loosen the top bolts in the anchor plate on each side - they're in there tight!
Remove the retaining clips that are on the studs -holding the rotor tight against the axle. (If ther're there.)
The rotor will probably be hard to get off.
I used a block of wood and hammered it from the inside around the rotor until loosened - about a minute.
When you remove the rotor, you will see that it is also a brake drum. The brake drum / brake shoe assembly is the parking brake.
It should last the lifetime of the vehicle, unless
you drive with the parking brake engaged.
There is no high speed wear on the shoes -
they just hold the vehicle still.
Also, a leaking axle seal could damage the brake shoes.
I don't know how to change the brake shoes - probably have to remove the axle.
Replacement brake shoes cost around $85.00 at the Ford dealer.
Only the Local Ford dealer was able to cut the rotors due to the large diameter of the center hole.
The local auto parts stores didn't have the adapter for the rotors.
Ford charged $20.00 each to cut the rotors.
