Locking Fuel Door Idea

I have another vehicle that has a nice little feature that I was thinking about adding to my truck. The fuel door has an "eye" or hook on it and a solenoid that actuates with the power locks on the doors. So, lock the doors and the fuel door locks, unlock them an it unlocks. It also has a cable in the trunk to release the door if the locking system fails to operate correctly. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of a solenoid that I could use and add this feature on my truck.

Thanks,

JP

Seems to me that any after-market door-lock actuator could be adapted.

Here's one that is easily available at any car stereo shop:
Amazon.com: HIGH POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR 2 WIRE: Automotive

That's what it looks like, and even the stereo shops shouldn't rip you off for more than around ten bucks for one.

It is simple. Hook it up to power one way and the shaft slides in. Reverse the wires and it pushes out.

The "throw" is about an inch.

Don't forget the detailed photos when you're doing this project!!!
