Happy New Year early riser thread

Happy new year guys and gals.
Gonna spend the day between the driveway and college football.
Sounds like a perfect day.

Well it's three days into the new year and I haven't done anything but a little wiring on the mustang.
Nanc has been under the weather cause she worked her tail off for the holidays.
Actually been kinda nice.
Gotta work Friday though..........damn.

Give Nancy my condolences, and let her know that I wish her good health in the New Year (as well as you, too).

I'm kinda' hoarse, myself, for the last two days.

About the only thing I've done so far this year is cut up all the cardboard boxes (mostly Amazon) that we stashed in the back of my truck to hurriedly get them out of the way. It also had the box for the neighbor's 5-year-old's new bicycle (which was assembled by elves), which couldn't accidentally be stumbled upon in the neighbor's trash or garage.

Funny story:
I get a text from my neighbor about 3PM Christmas day asking when we will be home. The new bicycle needed air in the tires, neighbor didn't have a pump (I have a compressor), and the five year old flatly stated to her father and grandfather that she didn't trust the elves' assembly, and wanted Marv to check it over before she would ride it. I don't know from what or where she garnered that level of trust in me, but I came through for her and she is now making good use of her training wheels!

Would that make you the elf in charge?
Or the grand formage elf?
Or the head mechanic elf in charge?

No, just the old fart next door, though I've become somewhat of a surrogate grandpa in the last couple of years, as both grandfathers live in East-Central Illinois (Homer), and aren't around a lot out here.

Started watching these on the big screen with the grandkids. I bet once the robots take over machine ops there’ll be fewer potty breaks.

Moving earth is fun. Did a bit up north.
Everybody stay dry?
Glad I had the day off yesterday.
That Montecito news is terrible.

We made it to Pismo in occasional light sprinkles mid-day Monday, as did another in our party of (now only) four.

One guy and his wife, from Palm Springs, drove as far as Ventura on Monday. On Tuesday morning we text'd him early to tell him to check road conditions before continuing. He ended up going back to I-5, up the Grapevine to CA-166, then across to Santa Maria. Took him an extra five hours, and he said 166 was BUSY! Gee, I wonder why.

Had some hard rain and wind for a couple of hours during the night Monday/Tuesday, and woke up to puddles everywhere, but it's bright and sunny here now, and is expected to continue that way through at least Sunday.

US-101 should be open by then for our southbound trip home.
