Id recommend 17s or 18s and some 35s. Cooper STT is a very nice tire
Ya I was thinking that too about the wheels...About the tires I like the Coopers but they are almost the same price as the Trail Grapplers, I dont know why but everytime I think of Coopers I think that they are lower quality.

Not sure about that... i know around 7 people running them on their trucks now, and one of them has them on 6 trucks, from an 02 F350 to a 2012 350 dually.. and thats all he runs. they'd go on his new 550 service truck but they dont come in a high enough load range. never heard about any problems with them, and they get pretty decent milage for a mud tire. friend just replaced his on his 02 7.3 and he was running 33s on stock wheels and still got over 40k

From when ive driven them, they are great. And that was on a truck where they had under 50% life. I have the cooper S/T maxx on my winter set of wheels (stock wheels, 265/75/16 tires) and they are GREAT in snow, mud, sand, dry/wet pavement.. awesome tires. just wish they made them in 35s. You could run them on stock wheels... but i would probably just go for aftermarket wheels that have a 9" width. my wheels are 17x9 and im running 315/70/17s on them

I had a 35" as a spare on my 2000. I had an aftermarket exhaust setup (3.5") setup so I had to make a heat shield, but it did fit no problems.

Gage, truck looks good!

Which dealers? It's common for wheel and tire salesmen to be clueless, but I've never heard of a dealer that clearly doesn't know what they're talking about erring on the side of caution. My truck came new with 34's from the factory. Whoever you're talking to is a doofus. I don't know what northern Illinois means in your location, but I know Discount has stores in Chicago and I'd imagine other places around the state. I love the incredibly vague "wear issues and safety" reason, too.

Question about these wheels...I think I need 4.5 back spacing. but whats offset mean?
Heres the wheel I have been looking at one of my favorites.
XD796 Revolver, 17x9 with 8 on 170
Offset: -12
Backspace: 5.47....on some sites it says 4.53???
Max Load: 3200
Will these stick out much?
Thanks ~Gage~
