Quick hurry....buy one so I can spend $'s fixing the contamination...
Ford/GM/Dodge all have “watch-out” bulletins where the oil has contaminated intake sensors. - they even have a training video for the techs on this (flatratetech.com)

Oh that flow test data...must be bogus!!!!
Post filter flow disruption is the last number given
Wix 46945R 14x3 860 CFM 100% 119

That's ok, my air filter is one that does not need to be oiled ever. And if something happens to it, it will get replaced for free. I don't think anyone is twisting your arm to go and buy one. And no one is putting it on your truck so you don't have to worry about anything. I don't like the way a lifted truck looks but you don't see me telling people that they will void there warranty after they do it and that you have a greater risk of rolling over during sharp turns. People will do some things you don't agree with, doesn't mean it's wrong or right. It's there stuff and they can do what they want with it.
Now with you providing facts that things will go wrong that is a different story, everyone needs to be educated on things they don't know about or things they did not think about. Your input is great, you just don't have to be negative about it just because you would not do that mod.

I appologize if it was interpreted as being negative...I was really just being a smart A.s, I really should have put a next to each comment!

The biggest thing that made a difference in performance and towing was the tune I got from 5 Star. Now that you can tell there is a increase. But with MPG and the tunes, I don't think there is a increase. The tunes mainly adjust the shift points and keep you in the optimum gear longer to make sure you have power to go instead of bogging 6th at 35 mph.
I am not sure about the price on the air filters, but my guess would be around $20-$30. I bought one for my Pacifica and it was $20 so I am only assuming these trucks will be the same if not higher.
Yeah, stop and go for 4 miles is definitely not going to show much, if any improvement in MPG. I drive 30 miles round trip to work and most of that is with cruise control set at 55 MPH and a bit at 70 MPH. My MPG definitely increased, especially when cruising at 55 MPH. I figured that the Airaid would pay for itself in about 20,000 miles or so...

Agree, on the performance... don't think it did much for performance. I bought it mainly for the MPG increase AND the fact that stock intake is so gosh awful UGLY!!! Could NOT stand the look of that monstrosity! LOL

I do agree with the looks of the new system. Way better then the stock and really opens up the engine compartment. My MPG on the highway without towing is around 14-16, and one time I did get 17 on a 55 miles trip avg. 65 MPH. Which I think is pretty good for a 7500 lbs brick wall. With the stock I was around 13-15, and sounds really cool too.

I have seen more power increase than MPG gain with the airraid. I took a 500 mile round trip yesterday (Central Montana to Eastern Montana) and evergaed 15mpg. My speed averaged between 75 and 80 and I crossed two mountain passes twice along with some "hilly" traveling and a lot of cross winds. I get about 13 in town. The best MPG I have got was driving through Yellowstone Park for 2 days and I averaged just over 19mpg. I cant see this engine getting much over 16mpg at best traveling at 75mph no matter what you do to it. I am not sure how much affect elevation has on gas engines as compared to diesels but I imagine that it cannot have nearly the same affects.

I just come back from a 1000 mile trip to VA Beach the Volant CAI was a nice addition to my trk expensive but I think it was worth it doing 65 to 70 and various stops and slowing down to35 mph at times I still managed to get 19.8 mpg round trip love the sound when it opens up got to get a catback.

What engine do you have? A diesel? 19.8 for a 6.2 gas just ain't gonna happen, unless the the road is down hill both ways. Maybe for the first 3 miles after a reset but not for 1000 mile trip.

Yup they are both new users and they may be in the wrong forum not realizing this discussion is on the 6.2l gas engine. I have to agree the only way I see it averaging 19 or more is if someone is towing it part way
