Just curious how much you can add and any ill effects? The cost of diesel is about 50 cents higher here (thanks Clinton....lol). I guess we got a change as promised with our new one.

I dont know that I would run gas at all. There are lots of users here that add ATF to their tanks. Some report up to 90/10 ATF/Diesel

I've added Lucas injector cleaner to my gassers for years now, but I've yet to do it to my diesel. I'm afraid of any adverse consequences or what could break loose in the injector area and create an even bigger problem. I know the previous owner of my truck did not use any additive or injector cleaners.

I've used Lucas a few times in my diesel. No noticeable changes in fuel consumption.

You can add as much as you want.

Hell, you can add water.

Neither is good for your engine or injectors, tho.

Even if it was ok for your engine to run on regular, gasoline only has about 88% of the btu's that #2 diesel has. So for example at $4 diesel and $3.50 gasoline, you're paying about the same price/btu. You'll see an economy drop adding gasoline just like running winter blend fuel.

Every 100K or so, I take my injectors out for testing and cleaning. When that is done, you will KNOW that the injectors are in good shape. Or you can add the snake oil and guess that it is ok.

I don't understand.. you say you adding 10% ATF to each fill up of diesel ? That would be about 3 gals of ATF at $16/gal, or $48 ? Why ?

They are probably using recycled atf. From the previous posts looks like the were talking up to 90% atf to 10% diesel. Seems kind of high to me but I don't know much about it.

I just started doing this, but I am only running 80% Diesel and 20% to see if I notice anything. I have a friend with a Cummins who works at a dealer ship. They take two 55 Gallon drums, one with used ATF, and one empty. They hook an electric pump to a car battery that pushes through a filter into the other drum. then you empty that into buckets and funnel them into the tank.

So far, it seems to idle a little smoother, and smokes more. I haven't run it long enough to know mileage difference, other than say I put in 37 gallons at $140 or so, burn 10 off and put 10 more gallons of ATF in, my mileage per dollar increased significantly as thats $40 saved for another 180 miles

Its scary, but seems to be fine.
