Use of Cell Phones in Theaters?
Does it bother you when patrons use the cell phone when you try to watch a movie? I think this theater in Texas has it right!

I could care less if someone is texting as long as the phone is on silent and so are they. Now talking on the phone is a different story. As long as I can hear, see, and enjoy the movie, I don't give a rat's azz what the other people do.
I did enjoy her little rant in the video clip though.

movie theater?? are any of them left?the last movie i saw in a theater was one flew over the cuckoo's nest. there were a bunch of very rude rectal orifices sitting 2 rows behind me having a very loud conversation. i lost it, told them to shut the eff up, and walked out when they started giving me lip so i did not kill some of them.
as i was leaving, the rest of the people there started clapping and calling the others names/
the manager gave me a handful of free passes, that i gave away.
with cable TV, i can watch the movie in the quiet of my own house without anyone interrupting me, and not miss anything if i have to go to the bathroom, or want to get something to eat.

I live in Austin, and I go to the Alamo Drafthouse regularly. Their policy works. Every showing, they have some sort of clip like this, and they're usually pretty funny, as is this one. They also don't let kids under 6 years old in the theatre - there is no reason to bring your 4 year old to an R-rated movie at 9 PM at night.
People on phones are actually very distracting during movies, obviously if they're talking, but if they're texting, the bright light from the phone's screen is distracting if the person is sitting in the right place.
I think texting should be eliminated from the planet. It makes people stupid ("omg i totally no wat ur saying"), it leads to car accidents (let me rephrase that - texting doesn't cause car accidents, stupid people cause car accidents - texting just gives them another avenue to cause one). Texting is also making people antisocial and distracted - what happened to the days when people actually talked at the dinner table or said hello in public?

I can just visualize the late teen/early twenty-something female who sent the rant.........Hopefully, she will be breezing through a intersection, texting away, as a 18 wheeler enters the same intersection at 55mph.
What kind of hell spawn is it, that cannot bear not staring at their plastic piece of crap for less than 2 minutes?

Its simple, they are the property owners. To give the movie goer the maximum chance to enjoy the movie they paid for, they have rules. The money paid for tickets, waives your "displeasure" with any rule you have. Conform to the owners intent, or you're getting kicked out. I'm sick of these stories making the news. Individual A is sueing company B for rights infringement for preventing her from texting. It drives the cost up for every single patron after that, weather the owner fights it or settles out of court.
If you don't like the rules of any establishment, don't patronize it. And if enough folks don't go to it, they'll change the rules, or be run out of business.
