yeah I just have the basic info center on my XLT, which I think is the same as the XL model as well, I think the full out info center was another $2500 if I wanted that.
Seems to me Ford should have supplied the adapter......
I have heard of others filling up their diesels with gas and one that did the reverse. I try to READ the pump before filling mine up, screw the pump handle cover colors ....
I just found a use for that stupid little cubbie hole on my truck that is right below my 4x4 selector and to left of my fold down cup holder. I always thought it was strange that the cubbie didn't even have a lip to it to acutally hold anything.
anyways my DEF magnetic misfill thingy wedges itself nicely in there.
I use that cubby to keep my old garage door opener, since the factory link hardly ever works.

Funny you should mention the Homelink door opener. I have 3 garage bays and 3 different openers (don't ask, I'm a cheapskate by nature). I have noticed that the 2 more current ones with the rolling codes were more difficult to open over the older fixed code. What I have found that works for the more modern ones is to hold the button for up to 5 seconds. I think for some reason it takes that long for the rolling code to be transmitted.
The fixed code unit can be simply pushed more quickly.
its not that bad using the thing, it just sucked paying $15 bucks for it out of the gates. considering I will be using this thing for a long time and maybe even with future trucks its not that big of deal. although it does take some manipulation to get the thing on there right to get the pump to turn on. nowadays bulk DEF is the only way I buy it at the pump. I am not paying $12/gal out of the jugs.
how hard is it to measure the DEF tank just like the fuel tank gauge does??
The most common method for measuring fluid level is with a float-type gauge. Since the DEF freezes below about 15 degrees, mechanical moving parts are avoided because of the wear-and-tear that freezing causes. Instead, a few discrete on/off sensors are used at pre-selected levels.
I went to flying J / pilot website and got their rvpluscard which allows pay at the pump and up to 12 cents cheaper diesel and the def was like $2.70 IIRC
they are not the easiest to find and not always the cheapest... but filling up the def while there makes up for it ! as I have been GOING thry that def - 3 fillups in 7000 miles !!!
So It sounds like this would be something you would like to have in the glove box.
If you are on a trip and need DEF and decide to purchase it at a filling station you would need this correct?
I can get bulk DEF at Love's Truck Stop. They keep the magnet thingy behind the counter and will let you borrow it if you know what to ask for. However, there is no pay-at-pump option, probably because they don't want you driving off with the magnet.
