Hauling 3 horse gooseneck with f250 v10
Looking for some suggestion.
I have a 99 f250 v10 that has been lifted with a 6 inch lift. I just purchased a 3 horse gooseneck that weighs about 6000lbs.
Hauling the trailer empty my back leaf springs were looking taxed. I am getting the parts to lower the truck but wondering what the back springs should look like with this kind of load?
There are no overloads not sure if they were removed when it was lifted or if they were never there.

Welcome to FTE. How bad did the springs look? Perhaps the lift springs weren't designed for towing. Or there's a possibility that it's just junk 99 springs. I had a 99 that the leaf springs seemed pathetic when brand new if you put a trailer on it.
The easy answer would be to put an overload spring on your existing to help when towing. Airbags would be another option, but more expensive.

Airbags are more expensive than springs? How cheap are new springs? I just installed new Air Lift 5000's on my 2003. It cost me part of a Saturday and $253 total. And yesterday I pulled a 12,000# trailer 160 miles. The truck was level and the ride was smooth with them pumped up to about 75 pounds. When I dropped the trailer, I let the air out of the bags and I was back to having my normal ride.

I would imagine that your springs should still have a decent amount of arch to them with that load. Is the lift all spring or is there a block under them? If it is an aftermarket spring, it might not real be intended for towing as F350-6 mentioned.
If you plan to drop it back down to factory height soon I would wait on adding anything like airbags or an overload spring. For one, a factory spring might handle the weight a lot better. Secondly, an airbag kit would require spacers to accommodate the lift, which is simply an extra expense which you wouldn't need.

I had Timbren's on my F250. They are inexpensive, handle great, easy to install. Worked great for our slide-in camper.
