sealed beam to composite headlight swap?

thinking about converting my sealed beams to composite. has anyone ever done this swap and if so what is required other than the new composite lights, it looks like i would have to change the headlight bulb plugs on the harness too. there's tons of aftermarket headlight kits on ebay and they all say plug and play but i doubt its that simple

From what I have read, all you need would be the correct housing with H4 bulbs. I believe that H4 bulbs and the sealed beam bulbs have the same plug. I was looking at doing the same thing to my 03 at one point.

sealed beams like on an xl truck have a short adapter harness to plug the bulbs into. when swapping to the composite lights, you eliminate the adapter harness. I have done the swap twice with great results, but in my instances it was easier to remove the grill and headlight mounting panel, then install the lights, and then reinstall the panel and then adjust the lights . I used oem assemblys sourced from craigslist while watching everyday for them to pop up.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna order the new lights and give them a shot. I bought an old work truck for $650 I found some chrome OEM wheels on craigslist for $200 bucks and it improved the looks of the truck dramatically but it still has that work truck look with those sealed beams. I know it's just an XL truck but I think the composite lights would help the looks of the truck not mention the sealed beams are very dim, high beam is comparable to low beam on most trucks. I used to work for the company i bought the truck from and we had changed the headlights several times as
well as aimed them and they are still dim so hope fully the composites will help I have heard mixed opinions on both styles but I like the composites better my self. I'll try to post some pics of the truck before and after people still can't believe that I only gave $650 for this truck
