Hey all ~ I've got a 1979 4x4 F350 Lariat Camper Special Supercab that has gotten cancered in a bad way in the cab area, both in the roof, pillars, below the the rear windows and part of the driver's side floor. I'm not a bodyman, but I don't think there is much saving the cab. I'd like to swap the cab area with a 78 F250 supercab, also a Camper Special but not a 4x4 (obviously). I've had a couple of guys tell me that they think the 4x4 on the 79 may cause some issues with the 78 going on but I have no idea. Can anyone tell me if there would be a big prob. doing this or what kind of problems would come up? Thanks much!

 

They are the same.

 

Yes the cabs are the same, however, the beds are not. The F350 frame is narrower in the back than the F250 so beds are not interchangeable.

 

Thanks for the replies! Although the bed has some rust issues, I'm hoping I can avoid replacing it. Most everything in the interior of the cab is in great condition with the exception of the floor but the roof is pretty much a basket case. Nothing but hobbies!

 

I know your swap isn't identical to mine but I did a 75 F100 2wd Super cab with a 78 4wd SC and they were identical on the cab mounts. I would bet yours would be the same too

 

That is not true.

I don't think the F350 frame is narrower but even if it was all he would have to do is drill new mounting holes.

 

Same cabs. Need the tunnel cover from the 4x4 cab.

 

it should all bolt right up. the f350 2wd frames were narrower. the 4wd frames are the same as an f250. also as stated you will have to cut the center hump for your shifter.
