Guys, what years transmissions will fit my 90 F150 4x4 ? Mine died and before I have it rebuilt I was going to look for used ones to just swap out. Thanks

 

They changed to the 4R70W in `93 I think, so anything before that, provided it is from another 4x4. Also I think from `89 they had some modifications to strengthen them so `89 to `92 would be best but earlier would work.
Hopefully expert opinion will follow.

 

First thing is to positively identify your transmission because the two available are nothing alike and connot be interchanged, the 5.8 got the E4OD while the 5.0 and 4.9 got the AOD. The trans code on the drivers door pillar will tell you what it has, E for E40D and T for AOD.
