95 F150 steering box

I replace the steering box with a used steering box. Wheels are straight, but the steering wheel is off center by about an 1/8 of a circle. When reconnecting the steering column shaft down by the box I need to rotate the steering wheel in order to reattach. It all looked straight at the time but once around the block I saw the problem with the steering wheel being off center. My thinking is pull the pitman arm, center the steering wheel reattach pitman arm. Am I getting in deeper trouble doing this? Or is there another solution I don't see?
Any imput would be helpful.

The Pitman arm only fits in one position, because of the geometry of the sector shaft. You should try any corrections at the steering shaft, which is above the steering box.

First, the pitman arm can be modified to slip on the sector shaft at any position. Second, adjust the toe. Take and loosen the pair of bolts on each side of the drag link, where it meets the tie rod ends. Mark the current position with a permanent marker and then turn each side the same number of increments. It may help to use a piece of tape measure and bend it along the round rod to get a measure.
