ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge

ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge
I bought an ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge from Diesel Manor and was about to install it when I realized the fit between the ISSPRO pressure sensor/sending unit and the ford adapter that fits into the back of the fuel bowl have a bad connection.
I only can thread the two together two full revolutions before it becomes very tight. Looking closer at the brass sending unit, the shaft looks aggressively tapered which may be the reason. Can anyone who has installed one of these let me know if this is normal to only have a few revolutions of contact on the threads? Here are some pictures if it helps:

Yes, the threads are supposed to be tapered. They are 1/8" NPTF threads, and you should tighten it hand tight plus 1 to 2 turns. I usually tighten about 1 turn then check for leaks, tighten more if necessary.
You definitely need to hold the hex on the adapter while tightening, you do NOT want to put that much torque on the threads in your fuel bowl.
