No rust on my 94 in Alaska. Too cold to use salt on roads. Salt = evil

Kinda like the 302... fine power plant for a pony car but make it lug around a bunch of weight and it revs its little heads off and is left with little to show for it but an empty tank.

I will say this... what the hell would you all have to do with your Broncos if Ford had done all of that right out of the box? You'd be sitting here with NOTHING to plot and plan for swaps and so-called "improvements" if they had. The Bronco got every option that every F-150 got save a second fuel cell. And what more could you expect considering the Bronco was never intended to be anything bigger or stronger than a 1/2 ton truck. To make one 3/4 or 1-ton would be to make a different model. YOu never had an F-150 with 3/4 or 1-ton underpinnings because there was an F-250 and F-350 for that.

I'll say it again... If Ford had reconsidered its move to drop Bronco production, or at the very least the nameplate, that would have been my preference.

you make a good point, i do enjoy upgrading/fixing my 96. Although a 460 MAF would be unstopable. How hard would it be to find a 460 EFI motor and drop it into my 96? hmmmm

Not that difficult really as long as you are prepared the swap transmissions and computers/wiring harnesses.

Sadly that 460 never was in any vehicle sold around these parts (finding spares would be hell). Otherwise i would be very interested in doing that swap.

The only way I'd be interested in putting anything that big into my truck would be if it had been built to run on propane. Up the compression to 11 or 12:1 and I'll consider it.

All you gotta do is read my sig for my answer lol. Can you imagine the mileage they would have gotten back in the day of high sulfur fuel. I get 16-17 now on this 15ppm fuel with no over drive and 37" tires. I forsee a milage drop in the future tho when I swap in the 4:10's this year.

Ah but do you deal with "city" fuel? Denser population areas must deal with additional additives that reduce mileage even further. I have to go at least 50 miles outside of the city of St. Louis to get what we call "rural" gas.

The "city" fuel is up closer to cinci. They have to use a higher refined type of gas and it costs more as well. This was part of the deal to end the e-checks in northern kentucky. The county I live in didn't have the e-check therefore no need to sell the "good stuff" lol. The diesel fuel on the other hand is the same nation wide. It is all now 15ppm sulfur for all types (#1 and #2). But in the winter it gets cold enough here that they sell "winter" fuel. That is a mix of 1&2 to lower the gel piont of the fuel. But right now that is out of circulation. That winter fuel does cut down on mileage tho.

Oh good lord... I'm automatically relating "poor man's diesel" with you Grey, better quit saying that so often before the mental images of you humping that engine begin to appear...

P.S.: Glad you're almost ready to have that I6 installed.
