New Guy, New Forum

So fired up to have found this site! I got a '61 Uni Long Bed last week off of a farm in North Mississippi, had never heard of them before- just knew a deal when I saw it.($800)
I'm gettin into the truck this weekend. Its got a 351, auto, new rear-end and it runs tight....I'm gonna try and speed it up a bit and get it cleaned up. Only tragic piece it's missing is the legendary tailgate. I've been reading every post in the F-100 forum all weekend and I'm thrilled to see another avenue to learn about the truck!
I'll get some pics up soon.

Welcome to FTE

The Uni tailgate has been reproduced, is available from Dennis Carpenter, prolly other repro parts sellers as well.

Yea, I have seen those while I was spending countless hours diggin through the posts last week, but thanks for the reply- the best part I like about this site is the positive vibe and willingness to help. I have fixed up a couple of second generation Camaros in recent years, so I know how much researching the vehicles pays off(and I know how univiting some forums are.)
I think the caveman in me wants to find a tailgate in a junkyard for cheap, not a reproduction. But, from what I read this weekend, Carpenter has all the original stampings from Ford so that seems the route to take. I have been snaggin up some small NOS parts over the weekend, I'm suprised how close the price range is to used/reproductions.
I'm starting to get a grasp on the parts that are different between Uni's and the other trucks, but I'm not too shy to ask for help. I'm not hard core frame-off restoration guy or hard core super-mod kinda guy. I want it fast and original looking(and I never throw away an original part).
Looking forward to gettin' goin' !

Well as the 2nd owner of a 61 Long Bed F100 "Integral Cab" since 1976...I'm glad to see this forum and it's likely to get my involvement on here.

I have other aspects to my life also, including being an Admin on 3 other forums...so I won't be spending 8-10 hours/day on here like some others. But I'll be checking in once in a while.

Tim, Please correct the response to the truth.....

"CLICKS EARN MONEY" And thats the whole truth and nothing but the truth, More forums and sub forums there are the more clicks to be had as i and everyone else here now needs to look here also and click it open and therefore generate revenue....it did not improve anything. It just makes it harder to provide information on the same things.

Sorry Garbz, but your wrong. I'm the one that ASKED for the new sub-forum. The request was made by Uni owners that were having a hard time finding things for their Unibodys. We(Mods and Admin) discussed it for quite a while before we decided to form the new sub-forum. As far as I know, nothing was ever discussed about generating more revenue, just how we could better serve our members.......

I sort of agree with NumberDummy (Bill). I've always had good response getting my information from the 61-66 forum. There are slight differences, but the ppl that know, answer the questions! And if I saw anything that mentioned the uni's, I paid close attention. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on both!

Ok you asked so i will ask..........

Since when is a 64 ford truck a unibody? Please move the "New Build" thread with 8K $$$$ generating views back to the proper forum. I installed a big window in it, but that does not make it correct for this sub forum.
