I love my truck with all of the electronic stuff on it. I don't like the government telling me I have to do this or I have to do that but our trucks are really nice with lots of HP, good fuel mileage and very clean exhaust. In part due to some of the government and all of there BS. I would love to modify my truck and do away with the EGR stuff and have it spin the tires at will, but I still want a warranty. Oh yeah and my wife would not be a happy camper. You know what they say "A Happy Wife is a Happy Life" and I live by that.

@ Greg B, Good luck on your quest for a new truck.

Cheers

Fortunately, my present truck is adequate and I do baby it somewhat. It's an 06 with 51K miles. At 4K-5K per year it'll last a long time. I don't use it for a daily driver, so that will help.

The thought crossed my mind to fix up a 20 year old F-350 CC and put a custom engine and transmission in it. Maybe a 502 or a 572 Crate motor? No emissions requirements, tons of power, and you install updated seats, interior, aftermarket radio/nav.

I figure this can be done as a project for approximately 20-30k depending on the condition of the truck. Forget about MPG but imagine how much fun it would be to do a project like that! No EPA BS. Gotta have a HD Electra for work commute to help with fuel cost. Just a thought.
