OEM SD fuel pump vs. Walbro GSL392

Any compelling reason to choose one over the other besides the fact that the Walbro would be new and have a warranty?

Walbro is cheaper, flows more, seems to be pump of choice by the SD crowd. I will be running it when I do my fuel system shortly.

You can buy a used SD pump or a new Walbro pump for about the same price ($100). The Walbro is supposed to flow a little more and maintain pressure better. Walbro doesn't rate them for diesel but there are a lot of guys running the Walbro pump on SD's and not very many issues that I'm aware of.

The OEM SD pump quite a bit more reliable than the Walbro... I'd run dual SD pumps or keep an OEM SD pump in my tool box if I were to run a Walbro..

The stock SD pump tends to drop more pressure than the Walbro on the OBS trucks from what I've seen, but I'd rather lose a little fuel psi than have to worry about pumps failing.

Anyone heard anything about this option?- http://www.carterfueldelivery.com/fu...ining/fts3.pdf

I can get one Walbro for $100, or 2 used SD pumps for $100 to have one as a spare. Decisions decisions...

The pump in mine new from napa was 130 with a 1 yr warr and its worked good for 8000 so far. I need to get a gauge in the cab but I doubt I'm loosing pressure with stock AA's lol

That's what I'm running. I found it available from my local Pep Boys when my NAPA pump started acting up.

I had the pump from NAPA, It died after a couple of years. It was a smaller diameter than the OE and I was never overly impressed with it.

A spare, why didn't I think of that? I've got a tool box of spare parts and never thought about a spare pump! Where can I get one of these used ones, just for a spare??

The Walbro 392 are on eBay for $100, pretty good price for a spare.

Go with a Bosch 044. Flows more than a Walbro and has the name to back up it's quality. OEM was Bosch for a reason.

044 costs twice as much as the Walbro, but the W-392's seem hit or miss, so I'll pay a little more for a good quality pump.
