trans off
seal replaced, it just blew off
lineing it back up is were i am now
just can't seem to get it
the trans is about 1.5 inches ,away from the houseing, but i'm tired
today is over

The mating surface of the torque converter should be recessed from the mating surface of the bell housing but roughly 1" (usually slightly less). If its not there now, then the TC is not seated in all the way. It must be fully installed before any attempt to bolt the transmission to the engine.
And I also second the 3 steps.
Whatever you do, don't use the bolt torque to pull the transmission to the engine.
