You our in for big job. The first time, I replace mind was 1978 put in OEM. They lasted pretty good for having a camper on it all the time for many yrs. They were not ez as they our pressed in. I then replaced the rear about 6 yrs ago and the fronts last yrs but I've learned a few tricks. Got more tools to make it easier. Buy a metal/wood whole saw cutter the heavy duty one just large enough to fix into bushing to cut the rubber out of them. Yes you'll need a hand drill too. Then, I used a saws all to cut the steel inner shells of the bushing that left in there. And air chisel helps too. Or you can cut them out with a cutting torch if you have a setup. I then cleaned the bushing eyes with a small wire wheel with a drill. Then I then replaced them with the black poly bushing. Yes they do make a little noise like most poly bushing. But if you sand and rough up the part that goes in the eye and apply lots of grease that comes with them. By sanding the inner poly part give them some pores for the grease to holed and settle into them helps keep them quiet. You do get a little harder ride over OEM bushing.. A hell of a lot easier to in stall to.. my 2cents

My tool of choice would be a heavy duty air chisel.

Get the quantity you need, if just the shackle bushings: 2. I just passed the info along that all three bushings in the front leafs are the same.

C7TZ-5348-A bushings / You can buy 1 or all 48, as these were sold individually, not as a set.

I listed the original applications per side, takes 3 of these same puppies.

One at the front of the front spring, one at the rear of the front spring and one in the shackle.

Since you've installed Stupor Duty springs, all you need are two for the shackle.

I know this is a really old thread but I'm about to replace the same bushings on my 77. Is grinding the rivets off then reinstalling with new bolts the only way to get access to them?

I have access to a press so installation should be manageable I just don't want to grind off factory rivets if there's a way to install new bushings while in the truck.

Thanks

You can change them while still in the frame. Just depends how rusty your shackle hangers are. I took mine out because I was going to try using SD springs and there shackle mount but ended re using my stock ones. You can try punching out the old bushings if that don't work use a torch and burn them out and use a air hammer and punch if they are going to give you trouble this is what I ended up having to do installing was easy I used a press but a big c clamp will work if they are still installed in the frame.

I appreciate the response. The steel is in decent shape but the bushings are toast. I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks Again!

I always try using a hole saw 1st to get the rubber and inner sleeve out. A hole saw as close to the size of the rubber's O.D. as possible. This leaves the metal outer sleeve still in there though. This comes in handy if you are going to use poly bushings which reuse this outer sleeve.

You know Jeff I can't believe I've never tried that method. I'll try it next time. no idea how I didn't think of that being a common tool. I'd sure hate if that catches learned that when I used a hole saw to cut my core support for my Intercooler to go through.

Aw 2x on the hole saw setup wish, I'd had one back in 1978 when first did them all..
