Who's truck is it?

I was out removing the rear tires so I can remove the rear and finish cleaning the frame.

Well, my 12 year old son and his friend ride up on their bikes.
The conversation goes something like this:
Friend: "That's cool, Sam will this be your truck?"
Sam: "Yeah"
Me: "I don't think so!"
Sam: "Well, I will drive it to school."
Me: "Well, we will talk about that."

I've wanted an old truck for ages, I've had this one for about 10 years and last fall, I finally got a place to be able to work on it. I'm still tearing it apart and they want to take it from me....dang.

Well at least he has an interest in it. It will probably be his some day anyway, but I want to drive it a little bit.

HAHA, I think I will know exactly what you mean in a few years as I have 2 boys, a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old. I'm thinking more along the lines of them driving it to "prom" or something like that lol. When I get my truck done I'm gonna drive it every day so it will be known as "dads truck".....if I every get it done lol

My little girl was 7 when I popped the clutch on my 49 and scooted way over next to the passenger door. She drove it around my hay field for about a half hour. I even showed her how to change gears. She says that's her truck someday.

I tell my 2 yo son that the f1 will be his but I also tell him that one day I will fix his grandpas OT 59 gmc for him.
I recently stopped talking about the gmc when my father in law said that I fix his 59,my lazy a$$ brother in law will drive it.
So I said:"Screw it the GMC can rot"

Nikolaus already started to "customize" the f1.
He spray painted the pass window,he took the gas cap off and it got ran over by a car,he started tearing the lincoln seat I put in the truck,it only had 2 little tears and he took chunks of vinyl off.
Tardster you seem like a good parent, wanna take care of Nik and give him back when he is famous or rich or something???hehehe

My youngest, 18, has taken over both of my trucks. Well, not quite taken over but he drives them on a regular basis. That's what they're there for, to be driven. So far this season he's driven both more that I have but they're still mine.

When he first started driving them he told me he was a the gas station putting gas in the panel when a girl came up to him and asked it was his. He told her, "No, it's my dad's", she then said, "Nice" and walked away. When he told me that story I told him from now on if a girl asks if either truck is his he is to say, "Why, yes, it is." They're still mine but I told him he has to do what he has to do.

I'm sure my son will drive it a bit. He will just have to pry me out of the seat to get in. Shoot, I will probably sleep in it the first week I get it running.

You know,it's not all bad news for you.Now you have a bit more "parental leverage",which you never can have enough of.Always keep a supply of that in reserve."Clean the garage,or"...."Grind the paint off the frame,or" ....Etc.......
