1st time out this year

Got the ranger together and running right! Critter came up from NC, and I gotta say that thing is one NASTY truck! He ran in both X and XX classes where the X is cut tires and nitrous allowed and XX is run what ya brung. So with 4 rail cars running injected alcohol and nitrous, he took 3rd on cuts and motor only! Did the same thing in X class, and took a 4th in another class after almost rolling the truck.

As for me, I have to start over learning how the truck runs. It launches so hard with the new set up that during my very 1st run my hand came off the shifter and killed my fuel pump switch. It ran through the hole on the fuel being fed from the nitrous pump. Here are some pics of our trucks:

Critter's XX pass:

Critter's X pass:

My X class fail:

Critter's 3.9 second D class pass:

and my 4.4 second 160' D class pass:

I know I can go faster, I just need to get the seat time to get used to all the changes and find where to shift again. If you listen to my D class pass, I shifted from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd, but it only sounds like a 1-2 shift. I hit the 7200rpm rev limit from 2-3 and slowed me down dragging the motor with it.

nice. but karl, you still are teh ghey. lemme drive it :flipoff:

you didn't get to do any testing anywhere after you finished up the changes? that sucks. i bet it does some sweet driveway burnouts now. do you have any where to do any test runs on it to get dialed in, or are you stuck with track testing?

I got it back together and running right on Saturday evening, so no test time. I might be racing again this weekend if my son doesn't have baseball (he's in playoff time with a game Friday night and the winner advances to a Saturday game). I'm going to clean it and get it ready just in case. Been watchin my D class video over and over seeing where I went wrong, and think I got it figured out. I shifted to 3rd at the same spot I was shifting to 2nd last year, I need to be in 3rd by about 10' in the hole to be right

If that don't work, I have access to a wet field that I can test launch at.

Oh, and just for info, I was .5 seconds behind Critter in my D class pass, so if I had shifted earlier and not rung the limiter, I think I would have been faster!

If Im off Ill come up for that. Im not sure if the truck will be ready or not. Between work and work on the truck Ive been working my *** off lately.

Did you get the pic of Johnnys new paint job/wrap?

Also, Thundervalley is starting back up next weekend. Rails were running in the high 1.9s last time they raced there a few years ago

Yeah, I'm diggin the wrap job he had done. Looks sweet. Critter was saying he wants to head down to Yemmessee to run this year, I told him to let me know and I'd try to make it down as well. Should be a good time. No way I'll hand with Johnny, but I can put on a good show

Not that I know of. Always thought it sat the same on the 39.5's he's got on the backs. 44's are useless heavy pigs when most of the time 39.5's can do the same job but faster.

39.5 vs 44 only become an issue when you have a lot of trucks running 44s and rut the start line up where your dragging your axles coming out of the hole. That was always my issue but once I got out of the starting ruts I could run em down.
