Truck feels like it wants to keep going

I knoticed this problem about a month ago and cant figure it out. When Im driving down the road and come to a complete stop something is still spinning like its loose or like my tires havent stopped moving yet and then it stops. When I go to take off there is a slight dely and then it goes, it feels like there isnt tension on something all the time, my universals are greased and in good shape. It almost feels like the trans is slipping, its hard to describe or explain any ideas?

I had my wife look under the truck as I moved the shifter in between reverse and drive so she could pin point where the noise was coming from because my hearing isn't good by any standard. She found where the noise is coming from, it's my rear end she said while I was changing gears at a complete stop that the drive shaft had more than a quarter turn of play in it. So for some reason I have a lot of slop in the rear end. Ive never heard of anyone having rear end problems like this have any of u guys is it common?
