F350 4WD or 2WD to carry camper?

Hello,

I need to buy a pickup to carry a camper Lance Legend 980.
I am looking for a used Ford F350 crew cab (year 2000).
The global weight might be around 13000 lbs.
I will buy it in Chile and drive around South America mainly on good tracks but sometimes in sand or wet tracks or bad tracks or little snow.

Someone sells a F350 2WD for good price.
Do you think it is enough for my use or do I really need a 4WD truck?
I've never had this kind of vehicle and wouldn't like to buy a truck getting me into troubles.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me in my choice.

Just my opinion but if I am going off paved road very much at all in a rig that size I want 4WD, a winch, a sand anchor, a high lift jack, good tow straps and good shovels. If I were traveling as a lone vehicle the requirements would possibly be more.

And welcome to the forum.

Definitely get 4wd. Get good and familiar with its performance in a safe environment before loading the camper, then get familiar with that as well. Then look into exploring. With the camper in my 2wd 73 F250, it sinks REAL easy in sand that my Jeep could bury itself in and climb out of in 2wd.
