Just so everyone who doesn't know, Ebay Vehicle Protection (not even sure ebay calls it thats but ok) only protects you on the purchase thru EBAY! Imagine that!

Can't believe these scams are on AutoTrader now. Ran into a couple of them when I was looking for a truck back in Sept... I though you had to pay to list on AT?

It is obviously a scam. I love to play with these guys. I told him that I am on business in Santa Fe, NM, and asked for the address to view the truck. We shall see if he responds...

Prediction.

There will be one of two responses; 1, the vehicle is in storage and no one to show it to you or, 2, no response - looking for a less savvy victim.

When these guys were active on Ebay I enjoyed toying with them using a free email address from gmail so they had no link to me. I'd play real stupid and ask a lot of questions, some of which had nothing to do with the vehicle. When I grew tired I'd then tell them what I thought about people who preyed upon the weak and the stupid. I got one so mad he threatened to kill me and my entire family. I told him I was a retired Navy SEAL (false) and c'mon down.

If you check the top right corner of that page there is a provision to report the ad as a possible scam. Might be a nice thing to do in the event some poor sap does fall prey to this bottom feeder. If it truly is legit, the seller will likely relist his ad. However, I doubt there is anything at all credible about this ad, which is why I went ahead and reported it to autotrader.

Just to add to the "educational value" of this thread, check out the brake pedal.

A brake pedal will NOT look like that with 44K miles.
Mine looks better at 175K. That's an easy and obvious clue for any car buyer.

Note the "waves" in the side of the front seats... Ford doesn't do that from the factory.
Not trying to be a dick but the 05 Excursions didn't get the 05 Superduty dash, they just kept getting the 99-04 dash.

Also, I work for Chevron as an application engineer and I verified that this person obviously doesn't work for Chevron.

He might have access to a database that shows new hires or scheduling for guys going to rigs. Who knows... As long as he isn't giving out any names or personal info then he can mention this sort of thing yeah.

Eh, I knew deep down this was a scam but it is a damn pretty truck. Only reason I thought it might be remotely legit was because it is kind of hard to sell a highly modified vehicle at book value especially since half the modified vehicles are done by the owners. Many times the owners do as good or better a job than a shop would but people always need to see receipts... This is why I documented my Cobra buildup and took a bazillion pics. If I ever sell it I have tons of pictures of the rotating assembly, stages of assembly along the way, dyno sheets etc... Oh well, maybe in 4 or 5 years when I actually do possibly need to upsize from my Expy I at least have inspiration from the pics of this thing. Lifted Excursion with the 05 fascia is, IMO, on of the most badass looking trucks there is.
