how long will they keep making them

okay so I'm going to be ready to paint my 78 f-150 soon and so it's time to get thinking about wheels. and i'm stuck I would like to put 17" wheels on it but don't really want to have to try to find bigger brake rotors and calipers to bring them to a stop. so I think that I will most likely either put some 16" or stay with the stock 15" size. but i would like to hear from some of you guys on here on what size wheels you guys think that i should put on it? also i would like to know how much longer do you guys think that they will keep making 31 10.50 r15 truck tires for? thanks in advance and i can't wait to hear your advice and opinions thanks again.

well my 74 f 250 long box has got sixteens on it , stock brakes and stops just fine. this considering it has stock hard lines and no rear brakes right now. i keep my distance from those ahead of me but with some well maintained brakes you should be fine.
im also pretty sure the sixteens are stock. i might have larger brakes considering its a 3/4 ton , not sure.

thats my 2 cents. good luck .

one more thing, better braking power never hurts !

17" allow wheels won't hurt that truck a bit. You can use a lower profile tire and still keep your overall package the same diameter. 31X1050-15's will be around for while. They were still O.E. on Durango's, etc. into the 2000's so the tire manufacturers willl support it for a while. 32X1150R-15's seem to be dwindling.

15,16,17's you will be fine brake wise, 33x10.50x15 will be around quite a while I imagine.

IMO 17's and or bigger, just do not look right on an ol dentside.

Al least you do not have 16.5 rims try finding tires for that size........

i am going with 16" with a 285 70 16 tire on my bronco when its time for a change out american raceing makes a 16"x5.5 for the fords as the 35x12.5x15s are 300 a tire in alberta way to rich for me and about 3 weeks to order

okay thanks for the replies guys i I think that I will probably either buy a set of 15 aluminum wheels and put on 31 10.50 15's or go with 16" wheels and put 245 70 16's on them. but more that likely i will just stay with the 15" wheels and tires so that my speedometer stays accurate. But i"ll see.
