my guage pod wont fit??

i bought a over head pod from xtremediesel 6 months ago for my 2000 7.3....... lasst night i just bought a 2001 7.3. The pod would not fit the 2000..the pod would not fit between the mirror and the headliner. There seriously was not enough room. So i figured maybe the windshield in my 2000 was not stock? so maybe the mirror was up hireing than normal. NOT THE CASE!!! i sold the 2000 and now i got the 2001....and it STILL does NOT fit?? am i just "space caseing this???" does the rearview mirror detach from the windshield or something? this is driveing me crazy. i just dont get it....

I have read that some that have installed these have had to relocate the mirror down a little further.

You heat the area (preferably with a heat gun) then pop off the mirror with a putty knife or scraper. Mount the gauges THEN reattach the mirror where you're sure it's out of the way. You can either use one of those kits from an auto parts store or have a glass shop do it for a few bucks. The general consensus is that the pros have access to a better adhesive than us civilians.

Kent has you on the right track. You can twist the mount off after heating as well (use channel locks)

I took my truck to a glass shop for re mount and bought the dude a six pack
